Course Information
How long does the course last ?

The course is normally delivered in one day approx 9am - 5pm and includes the examination which lasts up to 1 hour.

What will I be studying ?

The course covers a range of licensing areas including premises and personal licenses, protection of children, enforcement and penalties and responsibilities of alcohol retailing.

How will I be assessed ?

The course is assessed by a multi choice examination. This is taken under exam conditions and no books or learning materials are allowed.

The exam has 40 questions and the pass mark is 28 out of 40.

I have a learning difficulty/disability

We may be able to make reasonable adjustments for you in the exam eg large print for impaired sight, coloured paper for dyslexia etc

If you or a member of your team taking the course have a learning difficulty or disability please contact us asap to discuss in confidence.

When will i receive my results

Exams are posted first class the next working day, the Awarding Organisation normally issue the results within 5 working days of receipt of the exam papers. We receive the results electronically and will let you know the day we receive these.

How long will my certificate take ?

The Awarding Organisation normally issue certificates to those who achieved a pass mark use within 10 working days of receipt of the exam papers. These will be posted out to you within 2 working days of receipt.

Outstanding invoices must be paid before certificates are released.

Course Delivery
Room Requirements

For courses delivered on your premises we will need a suitable room with tables and chairs for candidates. A screen or light coloured wall will be required to project on to and a power supply for a laptop and projector. Alternatively if you have built in projector or large screen TV with a PC input we can use that.

For the examination all candidates must sit separately (at least 1.25m apart), all facing the same way. and the room should be quiet. The venue should ensure they can meet this requirement

Licence Application
Where do I get a personal licence from ?

Personal licences are issued by the Licensing Authority (Local Authority) where you normally live. Contact you local licensing department or download the forms from their website

How long do personal licences last for ?

On the 1st April 2015 the legislation changed and licences no longer expire. Prior to this licences were valid for 10 years.

I have a criminal conviction - will this stop me holding a licence ?

Some offences may prevent you holding a personal licence. If you have an unspent relevant conviction as defined in the Licensing Act 2003 you may apply for a personal licence but the police in the area will have the opportunity to object to your application. If they object a hearing will be held at the Licensing Authority to determine if they will issue you will a personal licence.
